When it comes to creating a Universe, no matter the genre, I believe it’s important to come up with a Creation Myth for your own expanding existence. Knowing where everything began, even when you won't reference it in any of your stories, is a great way to develop the deeper themes throughout your world-building process.
What are some concepts you’ve been toying with in regards to your Universe's Creation Mythos? Do you already have one established and how does it affect the main culture(s) of your story's world?
I have a very distinct creation mythos that ties all of my stories together. It borrows heavily from Christianity, but there are other borrowed elements. I even wrote a children’s story that toys around with the universal elements of the soul.
I agree that developing this kind of framework helps out a ton. It’s definitely helped me figure out the direction and tone of my stories.
No better place to start when it comes to writing a creation myth. Mixing religions of together is a great way to capture relatable themes throughout stories since a lot of religions are related. And I'd like to hear more about these universal elements of the soul.
I definitely meant my “universal” elements of the soul as it pertains to the mythos I created and in no way meant to claim knowing the truth of our universal truths of the soul lol. Just wanted to make that clear.
My children’s story ended up being the premise of Soul made by Pixar. So looks like I missed the train at that station. But there’s still ways I can make it unique, I suppose.

I meant Pixar got to it first. Not that I had a hand in the development.
