Racial Rank:
All creatures have a Racial Rank that is determined by their Chosen Level. A Chosen's Racial Rank can only be ranked up through leveling up.
Level Die:
Your Racial Rank determines your Chosen's Level Die. This is the die you roll when recovering your Status Scores after resting. The following is what you roll at each Rank:
Rank 1: 1D4 + Chosen Level
Rank 2: 1D6 + Chosen Level
Rank 3: 1D8 + Chosen Level
Rank 4: 1D10 + Chosen Level
Rank 5: 1D12 + Chosen Level
Attribute Bonus:
Each Race & Subrace Receives an Attribute Bonus. When adding these bonuses to your Attribute Scores, you CANNOT go over the max of 12.
Usual Race/Subrace combinations are a +2 for Race and +1 for Subrace. Note: Optional Rule to switch the Race & Subrace Bonus when they are a +2/+1 combination, making it a +1/+2 combination.
Physique:
All creatures have a Physique that include their Body Type, Movement Type, & the Range they can move. The average creature has a Medium Body Type with a Range 3 Walking Movement (30 ft), however, there are exceptions.
You can dive deeper into this in the Exploration Phase.
Language(s):
Depending on the type of world the species comes from, all members of a Race can share a language or the different subraces can each have their own language. Come up with a random language if you desire or choose from the Languages in the Exploration Phase.
If you cannot think of a language, Simple is the universal language as it is quite easy to learn.
Knowledge(s):
Most of the time all creatures of a race obtain a Racial Knowledge. This will allow you to roll a specific check in scenarios when it is needed the most. Some knowledges can also increase chances of success over that of the Basic Skills.
To learn more about the Knowledges, see the Exploration Phase.
Benefits:
All creatures gain a specific benefit that usually corresponds with their Subrace, however, it may be a benefit for all creatures of the Race. Benefits are typically low level Skills, Feats, or Abilities (SFA). This means you can have an additional SFA without wasting a slot on it.
A Benefit will most often scale with the Racial Rank, unless specified otherwise.
Talents:
Most of the time talents are given to the Subraces. Depending on the type of Subrace, Talent is placed in 2-3 Basic Skills. Sometimes it can be placed in a Knowledge or Form, but that depends on the Race as a whole.
You can learn more about Talent Points in the Progression Phase.
Gifts:
All creatures of a given Race receive a Gift based off of their origins. This corresponds to the mystical/spiritual aspect of the realms and ties to the Higher Entities.
These typically scale with the Racial Rank and will improve as Chosen increase in level. For example, the gift of a Z'bula might be the ability to survive in any environment or even resistance/immunity to physical damages.
Once your Race and Subrace have been decided, this will dictate how others may see you across various societies. Although the Pillars are welcoming, the reality is that there will always be some form of prejudice against foreign concepts. Whether it be the species you are born into or the cultural customs you may adopt, be vigilant on who you accept as your allies.
