Starting a Storytelling Podcast
For the longest time I had wanted to make a podcast. I thought about what it would be, but always knew it had to consist of some kind of story.
I have always been developing my own multiverses, since the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) I’ve been inspired by the process of building a coherent story across a wide range of mediums.
Then finally, when the COVID pandemic began, locking me down in my room, with too much time on my hands, I decided it was time to just hunker down and push out consistent content!
When it first started, I was more doing it to introduce what I had been working on for several years. But eventually, my passion for the stories I was telling began to flow into the scripts I was writing.
Season 1: Understanding the CORE
In Season 1 of the Podcast, my focus was on laying down the foundation of what the CORE is. This is where the first few episodes came about.
Entry 1: Introductions into who I am/was at the time. Since that was 2 years ago now, I’ve learned a few things along this journey.
Entry 2: Presenting Reborn in Power. This was my first public explanation of the Reborn in Power Tabletop RPG. At the time I was working on finishing the rulebook and getting ready for a Kickstarter which inevitably failed because of my lack of understanding in regards to crowdfunding. Now though, Reborn in Power has been overhauled to have rules available online.
Entry 3: Diving into the Planes of Existence. This is where I spoke about the vastness of the overall ‘Omniverse’ the CORE Realms resides within. It is also the place where YOUR own multiversal creations could live inside.
Entry 4: Introducing the CORE Realms. This is where everything truly began, when I introduced the #NewExpandingUniverse I’ve been developing for good portion of my life. Inspired from works like the MCU, Star Wars, Mass Effect, and much more. However, I enjoy bringing deeper philosophical concepts into my creations, which is what brought about the concept of a Universe where life does not end at death.
Entry 5: My first and most prominent Guest, Jaron Marsilio. You get to hear him play as multiple characters throughout the podcast as well as discuss philosophical/controversial concepts with myself and others.
Entry 6: The Energy System of the CORE. Existence is a complex physical/mystical reality that works in tangent with itself. Matter & Energy are two sides of the same coin, and I worked to incorporate such concepts into the magic system. Much like a mixture of The Force from Star Wars and concepts from other speculative works I have enjoyed throughout the years. You can learn more about this at the Codex Entry: The Flow Disk.
Entry 7: The Pillars of the CORE. As I went from larger metaphysical reality, I finally arrived at the 5 main worlds I have focused most of my attention on. This is where you get to learn about the Pillars; the safe havens for refugees across the realms to make a home for themselves. Once I finished this episode, I began diving into the stories. The Anthologies that are presented throughout this podcast.
Season 2: Developing the CORE
When I first started, Season 1 was only 20 episodes, with the average Entry only being about 10-15 minutes long (apart from the Guest Episodes & Finale). Once I got started on Season 2, I knew I wanted to start doing things differently. Therefore, I began adding Reborn in Power sessions at every 10th episode.
I also focused more on developing a larger, overarching narrative that would span not only the podcast but other mediums. In order to do that, I had to introduce the factions, societies, regions, and more that make up the CORE.
When I began the Podcast, I had just finished a full Reborn in Power campaign that concluded with a massive surge that wiped the memories of nearly all sentient life across the CORE. This was deemed the CORE Reset and it is referenced a plethora of times throughout the podcast.
In order for me to develop this Reset Age even further, I had to expand the podcast more. This is why I made Season 2 have 40 episodes instead of 20. The Entries inside it are richer with lore and world-building and you get to have an idea of how I run my game sessions.
But being the visionary I am, there was a need to take it a step further. That’s when I decided to invest into new podcast equipment that would improve the quality of the audio and sounds. By the end of Season 2, I began my preparations for A New Age of the CORE…
This is when the upgrades to the podcast began showing itself and the story I’ve been developing truly began. In this Entry, you follow Archivist Eron in his research to understand Fragmentation; a symptom of memory relapses in those affected by the CORE Reset, which has fatal repercussions.
The story following Eron continues as he makes his way to meet a Ludaenian Monk.
Entry 59: The Vision of Change
Eron’s story begins as he receives a prophetic vision of an impending catastrophe.
Season 3: Expanding the CORE
Having just concluded, this Season brought about more content than I’ve ever had the chance to work on. There are four storytelling sagas that make up Season 3’s bulk. Each one with a Reborn in Power Trilogy and ties to the overarching narrative being woven together.
Not only that, but I made a plethora of Bonus Entries sprinkled throughout. In fact, it was 37 Bonus Episodes, with 11 of them being a Reborn in Power Series that ties directly into the larger narrative.
Since I keep referencing the larger narrative, we’ll just refer to it as The New Age. It is ambiguous because of the mystery behind it all.
However, now that Season 3 is finished, I can say that I’ve been preparing for Season 4 since the Yen Saga concluded in December of 2021.
There will also be the first official Reborn in Power Livestream that will be airing during Season 4’s release.
But before Season 4 arrives, I’ll be taking a hiatus to prepare for the livestream as well as further develop Reborn in Power for you all to enjoy! And possibly even allow you to catch up on the 100+ episodes of the podcast.
Focusing on the Yen species, this saga follows several significant characters that show up throughout CORE records, to a ‘certain’ extent. You’ll learn about the Yen Goddess, Prima. You’ll listen to a tragic Reborn in Power Trilogy. And lastly, you’ll hear an epic battle undertaken by a prominent Yen Rune Forger.
Focusing on the Retikon species, this saga follows a Master Forger and his Apprentice in discovering the roots of Evemore’s Will. This saga has great significance in the future of the CORE and the New Age. I would not recommend skipping on this saga. You’ll learn about the nature of the Dusk. You’ll witness an epic Reborn in Power Trilogy. And learn about loyalty to its extreme!
Focusing on the Cantol species, this saga brings about the next Champion of Phoenis. It also dives into the conflict between CORE & Counter Command. The conflict is referenced in Season 2 while you also learn about the Path of the Phoenix and the Origins of the Legionnaires. This is also a special saga as my lovely, supportive, girlfriend is the Chosen in the Reborn in Power Trilogy!
Different from the other sagas, this final one focused on the Plasmatic Knights; an order of Ion-kinetics that are also introduced in Season 2. There are reasons for why I chose to go this route at the ending, and if you listen closely you may come to understand why. This saga also will be linked to a Serial Novel I plan on releasing via The Storyletter Substack, made by Winston Malone!
Season 4: New Age of the CORE
Next Season is one where Reborn in Power will be the entire focus! Season 3 showed me that I love writing stories, but when it comes to the overall progression of this network I’m building, I want to show you how you can join in the creation process!
Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on completing Chosen Creation for you to get started in making your own Chosen. Then you’ll be able to not only make a character in this New Expanding Universe, but you’ll also be able to understand how to create in it… How to expand it further!
I will be making a video guide for those to follow me making a Chosen. It will be rather straight forward and give you the ability to do it yourself at home. The first episode is already up, teaching you how to access Chosen Creation, watch it here!
Once Chosen Creation is complete (October 2022), anyone who has become a Chosen Subscriber on any of the 3 platforms (Substack, Minds, & Arthadian Anthologies) will gain access to a monthly, exclusive release of new Reborn in Power content that expands the CORE even further!
With every Tabletop RPG comes modules for players to enjoy. For those wanting to test their Chosen in a beginners mission, this will be the first module for the Reborn in Power Tabletop RPG. This will be scheduled to release in 2023.
Bringing forth an online campaign livestream that will allow you to listen, comment, and interact with myself and my Chosen as I torture them with all that the CORE has to offer! Prologues & Backstories will be released at the start of Season 4 alongside the livestream, which will be on a bi-weekly stream schedule. Join the New Expanding Universe Discord Server to participate when the New Age arrives!
As I’ve previously stated, Season 4 will be jampacked with Reborn in Power sessions. Alongside the livestream, there will be several series that will focus on different Chosen throughout the CORE (most are previously featured in Season 3). These will be released back-to-back on Tuesday’s & Thursday’s.
Worldbuilders Guide to the CORE:
This will be on the back-burner, but eventually I will put out a guide of how to create new worlds inside the CORE. Once this is out, it will be considered freelance work for writers to make their own worlds expanding the CORE further! See the Codex Entries for a better understanding of how I have made them.
Immerse Yourself Now!
As you can see, I am working to keep this Universe expanding, and I would absolutely love for you to join me in its expansion. Even if you’re just here to watch, read, listen, and enjoy, that’s good enough for me!
Great summation of what you’ve been working on and have produced. I look forward to Season 4!
